X BLUE FLAG NATIONAL SEMINAR
The Blue Flag Programme is one of the world's leading iniciatives in education for sustainable development. In Portugal, it is coordinated by ABAAE, the national section of the Foundation for Environmental Education. In 2026, the Blue Flag celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The X Blue Flag National Seminar, held in Mira, is a multidisciplinary meeting dedicated to building a low‑carbon, resource‑efficient and socially equitable future. This edition is particularly significant, as the programme is entering a transition phase with new criteria to be implemented in 2028. The seminar will address these updates, alongside themes such as climate action, environmental governance, community engagement, accessibility, safety and regenerative tourism.
At the invitation of ABAAE, Isa Magalhães will present the work developed in Alentejo for the Environmental Education Activities of Blue Flag Portel — a project rooted in territory, community and ecological imagination. Sharing this process within such an inspiring edition is an opportunity to contribute artistically to the ongoing dialogue on environmental responsibility and future coastal resilience.
The programme brings together representatives from:
Municipality of Mira
ABAAE
FEE – Foundation for Environmental Education
Central Government
AdCL
Turismo do Centro
CIM Região de Coimbra
CESAM
National Committee for the Ocean Decade
APA
Tourism of Portugal
Researchers, educators and environmental specialists
